A night-time puzzle

Oxford - Bridge of Sighs
Oxford - Shark

Visiting Oxford - woke up during the hot night in my college room to be puzzled by the sight below (as seen looking up from the bed with the wall immediately on the right):

Bedroom ceiling and wall

Question: The picture was hanging straight when I went to bed (and I hadn't disturbed it). What has happened?
It took me several minutes to work it out - for the solution see the COMMENTS link below.

Solution - the picture is still straight. It is the bedroom ceiling which is sloping (in the attic room).

Sorry, not very well explained. I woke up and, looking up at the ceiling (large white area at the left of the photo) I could also see the painting, which appeared to be hanging at a large angle. My brain was assuming that the ceiling was horizontal. But in fact the picture was straight while the ceiling was sloping down towards my feet (bottom of the picture). But the visual image was very difficult (at least for me) to interpret correctly.
